3 Ingredient Banana Oat Meal Cookies - My Wonderful Cravings

All these Banana Oatmeal Cookies are hands down the very best banana flavored cookie I've ever had. Not only are they really moist and chewy for days, they are unmistakably banana-y.

Banana can be one of these flavors that can get lost once you bake with it. It can be very delicate flavor. It always bums me out when that happens, cause I LOVE the taste of banana. And thus does the hubs.

When good flavored banana treats come along, we go a little mad for them.

These cookies make the record of banana items to go crazy for. Without a doubt.

And they're so moist, they almost melt in your mouth. Additionally, with both oats and banana inside them, they're basically healthy, correct? And perfect for breakfast!

Making them is equally as easy as eating them.

You begin with mixing all of those beautiful components together.

I have to warn you. The odor of that mixture -- using all the banana -- is intoxicating. The hubs was in the kitchen making the dough with me (we made a deal that contained him carbonated with me) and we both had to work hard not to put our faces, or a straw, straight into it.

You then add all of the ingredients (which usually means you only use one bowl -- yay!) And mix it all together!

To bake them, spoon out about a tablespoon of bread and create a thick disk, rather than a chunk. They spread somewhat when baking, and thus don't put them too close together. Bake them for about 10-12 minutes to get a fine, moist cookiecutter. So yummy!

One other thing I really like about this recipe is really where it came out.

My grandmother (my father's mother ) passed out in 2008. Once I started baking a lot a couple of years back, my uncle gave me her cookbook he'd had didn't use. I have had it on my list to produce several her desserts since.

It was a tradition for my grandma to make them each Christmas! She gave everyone a large tin of these, which was really a feat with 6 sons.

I know precisely how much of an accomplishment it was! My goodness. She made them with a traditional gaufrette iron which goes over a open fire. My father and I had them around the cooker. They cook very fast and you have to be precise. Too long and they kind of disintegrated to the iron. Overly long and they burned into the iron and we still needed to clean it out.

My dad was pouring the batter and removing the biscuits, I had been operating the visit this website iron, the hubs was time things. It required a number of attempts to get it , but they were so excellent! I have tried to create them again on my own and it works. I'd like to share the recipe, but the dang irons are all so tough to discover. And expensive. At some point, I'd love to just earn a cookie with the identical gaufrette flavor.

For now though, I am sharing these cookies. I don't think I ever had them when she made them, but they are from her book.

It is such a fun recipe book to check through, too. There are so many handwritten pages, clippings and newspaper recipes that were taped to the book. I really like the way that they used to write recipes from the paper -- they'd the individual who filed it's name and adorable little tales. It is so enjoyable to read through them! What another time on the planet!

Anyways, I do not really know where this recipe originated out. The paper looks like it had been on a flier out of their square dancing group or something (they have been big to square dance ). It's definitely from West Virginia, in which they lived.

In any event, I am so glad to finally talk about a recipe from her book with you! I made a couple of adjustments to make them thicker and puffier and they are delicious. There'll be more to come out of her recipe book, but for now enjoy the banana.

Banana Oatmeal Cookies


Return: 34-36 COOKIES


1 cup brown sugar, packed

1/2 cup sugar

1 egg

1 tsp vanilla extract

1 1/2 tsp cinnamon

1 tsp baking soda

1/4 tsp ground cloves

2 tsp cornstarch

3 cups old fashioned oats


1. Mix together egg, brown sugar, sugar, egg, vanilla extract and mashed bananas until well combined.


3. Stir in vanilla.

4. Preheat oven to 350 degrees.

5. Spoon tablespoons of dough onto a cookie sheet covered with parchment paper. Flatten dough just a little bitinto thick discs. They'll disperse a little when boiled.


7. Remove from oven and cool on cookie sheet for 3-4 minutes, then proceed to cooling rack to finish cooling.
